Silk Petit 4 Pincushion: embroidery and ribbonwork

Silk Petit Four, was my entry for the PieceWork Magazine’s The Excellence in Needle Arts Awards—Pincushions 2008 contest. Click the link “View the 2008 Winners” below the pictures to read more.

It was selected to be on display with the “winning entries” at The National NeedleArts Association’s trade show in Columbus, Ohio, June 6-9, 2008 and at the Embroiderers’ Guild of America’s (EGA) newly opened museum in Louisville, Kentucky, from August 1 through November 30, 2008.

Ingredients used in pincushion are: silk fabric for the base, stuffing cardboard and felt; ribbons: grosgrain ribbon, Hanah Silk bias, striped grosgrain, Mokuba picot edged ombre variegated woven edged, and single sided satin; embroidery floss: buttonhole twist, DMC linen floss, Kreinik silk Mori, Caron Collection Wildflowers pearl cotton and Waterlilies silk floss; 4mm silk embroidery ribbon.
