Beadoodlery: class/tutorial

Beadoodlery: 2 lessons/$30.00

beadoodleryThis is an excellent beginning class to learn about beads, free-form stitched bead embroidery, with a step-by-step illustration of the design process. In Beadoodlery you will stitch beads onto to a fabric base to create a “doodled” bead pattern. I will provide 4 different heart shapes, though you can chose any design you like for the base.

Skill Level – Beginning/Intermediate: some hand sewing needed; minimal beading knowledge needed.

Lesson 1: You will learn about the different types of beads and how to use them in your design. You will choose your heart shape base then create the base from a fabric of your choice. The first stitch that you will learn is continuous beading that will be used to create lines and sections to work within. Large embellishment placement such as beads or buttons will also be discussed.

Lesson 2: In this class you will continue your design using these stitches within the areas you created in Lesson 1: continuous circular beading, single beads, groups of beads, bead combinations, single bead detail design, beaded cascade, large bead with picot tip, glass charms and beads. Directions will be given for the finishing of your piece.

Zembroodlery: class/tutorial

Zembroodlery: 3 lessons/$30.00

zembroodlery1This is a fun and creative class that uses felt, soutache trim and seed beads to create a colorful base that can be used as a wall hanging, or a pillow. It is an excellent class to learn about free form stitched bead embroidery using the shapes of the felt as a design element. The project in is all hand-sewn, with no sewing machine needed.

Skill Level – Beginning/Intermediate: some hand sewing needed; minimal beading knowledge needed.

Lesson 1: The base of the felt is first cut into shapes, which are reverse appliquéd with additional pieces and colors of felt. Soutache trim is then stitched to the appliquéd shapes.

Lesson 2: The beading begins! Several different bead embroidery stitches will be explored using size 6, 8 and 11seed beads. Sequins, buttons and larger beads will also be used.

Lesson 3: Additional rows of soutache trim are added to fill in the design. Then beads, buttons, and more are stitched in and around the new rows. Suggestions for finishing the base will also be given.

talisman dangle earringsThese charming earrings can be created in a few hours, with just a few beads, charms and other components. They don’t require a huge investment, nor do they require a great deal of skill. All they require is the desire to make something beautiful and they are a perfect project for that last minute gift!

Scarves to Dye For: class/tutorial

Scarves to Dye For: 2 lessons/$30.00

scarves to dye forDo you find yourself wishing “if only I had scarf that had all of my favorite colors in it”? If your answer is YES, then let me invite you to take a colorful journey into the realm of dyeing your own RTD (ready to dye) scarves, lace and silk ribbons. I will teach you how to prepare your scarf blank, the lace and ribbons then dye them to create one of a kind, creative and colorful wearable masterpiece! In this class you will be using Colorhue Dyes, no other dye will be discussed

Skill Level Beginning/Intermediate: hand sewing and ribbonwork knowledge helpful.

Lesson 1: I will give you a few simple resist dye techniques that include tied, stitched and wrapped that can be used on the scarf blanks, ribbons and lace. I will show you how to prepare the dye baths, and give you color formulas to work from.

Lesson 2: First you will hand stitch the lace to the edges of the scarf. Then you will transform your ribbons into the flowers and leaves of your choice. These will be turned into finished vignettes that can be pinned or attached to the scarf bases.

Oliver the Owl: class/tutorial

Oliver the Owl: 3 lessons/$30.00

oliver the owlWhat a hoot! Do you love owls if you do then Oliver is definitely your man! He is made from felt, hand pieced and embroidered with a few simple stitches. He stands 7” tall and is 7” wide, and wears a beret that resembles a sunflower. He is the perfect addition to any aviary and autumn mantel.

Skill Level Intermediate: some hand sewing and embroidery knowledge needed

Lesson 1: In this lesson you will choose your colors, and then cut out the pattern pieces. The basic embroidery stitches will be covered. Then you will begin by giving him some personality and embroidering his eyes.

Lesson 2: In this lesson you will assemble the face to the body, and embroider around his eyes, beak and forehead. The chest and wings are added to the body, and these will be further embroidered with stitches. The body will be stitched, and partially assembled.

Lesson 3: In this lesson you will embroider the feet, and assemble the legs. The body will stuffed, and then the legs inserted. Lastly the sunflower beret is embroidered and assembled, and your dapper gent is done!
