circle of heartsIf you love someone, put their name in a circle, instead of a heart, because hearts can break, but circles go on forever. — Source Unknown

My Gypsy Heart

“Don’t turn around, don’t turn around again
Don’t turn around, your gypsy heart
Who’s gonna ride your wild horses?
Who’s gonna tame the heart of thee?”

Excerpt from Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses by U2, my favorite band in the world, their poetry speaks to my gypsy heart!

silk ribbon embroidered heartMy heart is blooming with flowers for you!

This is a close-up view of the front of “Beribbonned“, which is one of my favorite vests. The background fabric is silk, with satin ribbons randomly stitched onto the background. I then dyed lace fabric and cut this into different heart shapes. After these were stitched down, I stitched ribbon worked flowers and leaves, then embroidered these bouquets with silk ribbon embroidery. I stitched beads and charms into the flowers for extra embellishment.

Enjoy what you do! Christen

heartDon’t you just love the colors and the Joy of Mardi Gras!

This image is from a bag that I have saved for over 20 years. The artist is Niki de Saint Phalle, her work is extraordinarily playful, colorful and joyful. This is a link to her Wikipedia page, but for a real eye opener Google her name and click on images!

Happy day, I heart U. Christen

woven heartJust because the 14th is over, it doesn’t mean that we can’t look at hearts until next year. I will be filling your heart with hearts until the end of the month!

This heart is actually made from a warp made from artistic wire; then was woven into a heart shape with novelty yarns and silk ribbon. I then beaded and embellished the heart.

mixed mediaA mother’s heart always has room for her child’s love….

The background was a card that my daughter gave to me one Mother’s day. I have added a crochet heart, vintage embroidered appliques, a few vintage buttons, some ribbon and a lady bug (her favorite). The image was digitally enhanced.

Love to you Gwen, now and always~ MOM

ribbon work and silk ribbon embroidery

It takes more then lace and ribbons,
And lovely verses too,
To make a Valentine that is nice enough for you.
It takes a world of special thoughts,
Tucked into every line,
And that’s exactly what you’ll find inside this Valentine.

The digital image was created with a heart shaped pin that I made with ribbon work and silk ribbon embroidery. I found this quote at Sweet Valentines Day Sayings, I think that I might have sent a card with these exact words to my Grandparents at one time! LOL

Enjoy, Christen
