This is a jacket from my UPCYCLE-IT program. I took a jean jacket that I bought at the thrift store for $5.99 and embellished it with the sample and prototype flowers from both of my ribbonwork books, Ribbonwork Gardens and Ribbonwork Flowers from C&T Publishing.
This is a sampling of the flowers that I created for a class that I call Lace in Bloom. Several of the flowers are made with individual petals that are made from a “magic web” technique that I created using Solvy. The other flowers are made from a length of lace. All of the laces were dyed with ColorHue dyes. Fun, fun, fun!
This is a gallery project that I made starting with an old salt shaker for the vase. I wrapped the vase in several pieces of vintage lace and added a satin ribbon bow. I filled it with buttons attached to wire stems, and blooms that can be found in my book Ribbonwork Flowers by C&T Publishing.
This project the Ribbon Embroidered Brooch, is a class that I just love to teach. The project is simple and elegant, and one the student can easily finish one in a few hours. There are just a few stitches, the woven rose, lazy daisy, French knot, and chain stitch, with a couched cord edge. These stitches can be found in my book The Embroidery Book by C&T Publishing.
This is a close-up view of a needle case that I made for a class that I teach. The base is crazy-pieced with cotton fabrics and embellished with ribbonwok flowers, silk ribbon embroidered flowers, traditional and silk ribbon embroidery stitches, buttons, charms, vintage tatted trim and appliques. Many of the stitches can be found in my book The Embroidery Book by C&T Publishing.
This group of colorful blooms is from my class Fabulous Felt Florals. These fast and easy flowers are just fun, fun, fun! Create a brooch, hair ornament, or decorate an object with these colorful, creative floral beauties. Several different flowers, leaves and embellishments will be made using a variety of shapes with the addition of machine and hand embroidery. The techniques involved are both machine and hand stitching. Fun for any time of year!
This is a close-up view of a small pillow that I made using both ribbonwork and silk ribbon emboridery stitches. The base is made from two silk fabrics pieced together and embellished with vintage ribbon trim, a basket made from vintage lace, embellished with a variety of ribbon flowers and ribbon trims. This was an example used in my book Ribbonwork Gardens from C&T Publishing.
This is a grouping of some of my favorite embroidered treasures. I keep these in baskets on my work table and book cases so that I can see them and love them everyday! These can be found as gallery examples in my ribbonwork and embroidery books from C&T Publishing.
This little creamer was one of my favorite finds, it is the from Royal Winton Sweet Pea collection. I have filled it with blooms made from the basic rosette. This technique can be found in the Beginning Flower chapter from my book Ribbonwork Gardens from C&T Publishing.
