This purse is made with one of my most favorite color combinations. The fabrics- black and rich ikat with plum, rose and eggplant are enhanced by the scarlet, mauve, lavender, olive, and chartreuse silk ribbons that I used in the ribbon embroidery.
In fact it was a favorite sample in the store too! I sold many of the Climbing Wisteria purse pattern just because of the sample!
The silk ikat fabric in the middle section was purchased at the AQS quilt show in Kentucky many years ago. The black fabric is a dupioni silk leftover from another project.
The pieced sections are embellished with silk ribbon embroidery. These stitches are embellished with seed beads and novelty leaf shaped beads.
The strap is made from braided rayon cords, and the closure is an old Victorian brass button with a silk cord loop.
