Being an artist I am inspired by all that I see, past and present. One of my favorite things to do is turn on an old movie, a classic, such as Brigadoon for instance, with Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. The colors of the fabrics used in Brigadoon the vest and this. purse reminded me of the tartans worn in the movie and of course my mother's own Scottish heritage.
One of the curved pieced sections of cotton and tapestry fabrics is embellished with silk ribbon embroidery with seed bead accents. The other section is covered with a vintage metallic lace and embellished buttons and ribbon and fabric flowers and leaves.
Metallic cord is used for handle and the edge detail. The tip of the purse had a wonderful vintage metallic tassel. |
